Expansion of BAUER’s Aresing Plant: Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Production and Logistics Facility

  • 22,000 m² facility for materials management, pre-assembly and electronics assembly, quality assurance, and shipping
  • New customer and training center designed as a three-story building with training rooms and approximately 2,900 m² of dedicated training grounds
  • Comprehensive modernization of the site’s energy, transportation, and infrastructure systems

Aresing, Germany – The expansion of the BAUER Maschinen GmbH plant in Aresing is taking shape: On October 9, the company officially marked the start of construction of its new production and logistics facility with a symbolic groundbreaking ceremony. In addition to majority shareholder Alfons Doblinger, the ceremony was attended by representatives of the district administration and the municipalities of Aresing and Schrobenhausen. Also in attendance were the managing directors of BAUER Management GmbH and BAUER Maschinen GmbH, representatives of plant management and the BAUER Customer and Training Center, as well as representatives of DIBAG Industriebau AG and GOLDBECK Süd GmbH.

“The plant expansion, as a total investment, represents a clear commitment to this location, the region, and, above all, our employees,” said Dr. Martin Beck, Managing Director of BAUER Management GmbH. “With GOLDBECK serving as the general contractor, we have a partner capable of managing the entire construction of the new facility under a single contract.”

Majority shareholder Alfons Doblinger also sees the project as a clear affirmation of the BAUER Group’s long-term strategy: “In light of the global challenges facing our business, it is essential that we continue to expand our capacity and strengthen our ability to innovate. This investment is far more than a construction project: It is a strategic investment in the future of the entire BAUER Group and a strong commitment to the region. We are investing in the future of Bavaria as a business location while strengthening the competitiveness of our entire Group in global markets.”

Preparatory Work Completed in Recent Months

In addition to new parking areas and other infrastructure improvements, including stormwater retention basins for flood protection, the new production and logistics facility and the customer and training center are the most significant new structures planned for the site.

Work is progressing according to schedule. Earthwork for the new facility has been completed, and preparatory work for the customer and training center is also complete. Site development and the reconfiguration of the plant grounds are well underway. A temporary shipping area equipped with a tower crane will allow operations to continue until the new facility is completed. Slope drainage and the necessary piping systems have also been installed.

The exceptionally dry spring weather supported the construction schedule, allowing the preparatory work to proceed without significant weather-related interruptions.

Materials Management, Pre-Assembly, Quality Assurance, and Shipping Under One Roof

The new production and logistics facility will have a floor area of approximately 22.000 m². At its maximum dimensions, it will be approximately 240 m long and up to 100 m wide. The facility will house materials management, pre-assembly and electronics assembly, quality assurance, and shipping. A modern area for assembling electronic components will also be created, with an integrated training area for apprentices and trainees in electronics and mechatronics. By bringing these functions together under one roof, BAUER will not only shorten internal transportation routes but also reduce interfaces and streamline material flows throughout the plant.

Customer and Training Center for Training, Applications, and Knowledge Exchange

Construction of the new customer and training center is progressing in parallel with the production and logistics facility. The building will have exterior dimensions of approximately 39.7 by 14.6 m. GOLDBECK is constructing the facility using an innovative modular building system. This approach will make the building’s size and architectural form clearly visible as early as this year. The facility will be heated and cooled by an air-source heat pump system.

The planning process also took into account wildlife migration corridors and protected areas for reptiles and amphibians, as well as current bird-protection requirements.

In the future, the center will host customer events, training sessions, workshops, product presentations, and sales events. On the adjacent training grounds, covering approximately 2,900 m², machines, processes, and applications can be demonstrated and tested under realistic operating conditions. Planned programs include operator training, service and maintenance training, product training, sales training, safety training, application training, and international train-the-trainer programs. Customized training programs tailored to individual customer requirements will also be offered.

Integrated Site and Project Development

DIBAG Industriebau AG was responsible for the integrated development of the new production site. Working closely with the municipality, DIBAG developed a new land-use plan that established the legal framework for the project. The company also managed the complete site development, including site preparation, stormwater management, and complex measures to protect nature and wildlife.

As project manager, DIBAG also took responsibility for strategic planning. The company developed the urban design, analyzed and optimized BAUER Group’s operational processes, and coordinated the architectural design and landscape planning in close cooperation with specialized project partners.

DIBAG is currently coordinating all construction activities for the new production and logistics facility, the customer and training center, and the surrounding outdoor areas.

“As the project developer for the Doblinger Group, DIBAG Industriebau AG has helped lay the foundation for a future-proof commercial development for BAUER Maschinen GmbH. We would like to extend our particular thanks to the municipality of Aresing and the district administration for their constructive and collaborative partnership. We are convinced that the optimized operational processes at the newly developed site will provide an ideal foundation for the continued growth of BAUER Maschinen GmbH,” said Sebastian Kuhlen, Member of the DIBAG Management Board.

As general contractor, GOLDBECK is responsible for delivering the new facilities from planning through turnkey completion. Consolidating responsibility under a single contractor is intended to ensure efficient and coordinated execution of the project.

Expansion of the Energy Infrastructure

In addition to the two new buildings, BAUER Maschinen is modernizing the site’s infrastructure. This will create the necessary conditions for operating large electric machines, implementing site-wide energy management, installing photovoltaic systems with battery storage, and establishing future charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. A geothermal energy system is also planned as part of other elements of the overall project. BAUER Resources GmbH is carrying out the required drilling using drilling rigs manufactured by KLEMM Bohrtechnik GmbH.
