Great response to the Long Night of Apprenticeship

Schrobenhausen, Germany – On the evening of September 19, everything at the Bauer Training Workshop once again revolved around a key question for many young people: Which career is the right one for me? At the Long Night of Apprenticeships, around 250 students and their parents explored the wide range of training opportunities offered by the BAUER Group. At the Schrobenhausen site alone, the company provides apprenticeships in 17 different professions.

Since 2016, Bauer has been inviting students and parents to its Training Center at the start of every school year. During a guided tour of the hall, visitors can explore various stations to learn about each trade and, in some cases, try things out for themselves—whether in electronics, on the drilling rig simulator, or at the large CNC milling machine. A perennial favorite remains the forge: heating iron in the furnace until it glows and hammering it on the anvil still feels like real craftsmanship. After all, opportunities to try something like that are few and far between.

Starting with the 2026/27 training year, Bauer will also be offering an apprenticeship in surveying technology. “Traditionally, this type of training is found more in public authorities,” explained Training Manager Gerhard Piske in his presentation. “But demand has been growing here as well, so we decided to start training surveyors ourselves.” From the beginning, Bauer’s main goal has always been to meet its need for skilled workers with its own apprentices. As a result, the company’s retention rate has consistently been over 90 percent.

The first highlight of the evening was the prize drawing for participants in the raffle. But for many visitors, the true standout once again was the live equipment demonstration in Aresing. Most weren’t about to miss the chance to see a large rotary drilling rig in action up close.

The Long Night of Apprenticeships was once again a great success. The training team is now looking forward to receiving applications, which can be submitted immediately. More information on apprenticeships at Bauer is available at karriere.bauer.de.
