Jubilee - Subsidiary of BAUER Spezialtiefbau GmbH in Austria celebrates 40th birthday

Vienna – The Austrian subsidiary of BAUER Spezialtiefbau GmbH is celebrating a special anniversary this year: BAUER Spezialtiefbau Ges.m.b.H. – then still Karl Bauer Ges.m.b.H. – was founded 40 years ago. This makes it the oldest of the around 110 subsidiary companies of the BAUER Group. Since it was founded, more and more innovative new specialist foundation engineering techniques have been introduced to the Austrian market, including injection anchors, vibrocompaction, machined diaphragm walls, bored piles using CFA technology, CSV columns, MIP walls and bored piles using twin rotary head technology.

Over the past years the company has successfully undertaken numerous construction jobs and large projects for power plants, underground railways, tunnels and cuttings, flood protection dams, environmental technology and deep foundations. For example, Bauer's Austrian specialist foundation engineering subsidiary not only carried out storage space sealing work for several Danube power plants but also the foundation work for the Millennium Tower in Vienna at the end of the 1990s – still the highest building in Austria to date. Similarly, several contracts for the specialist foundation engineering work involved in the expansion of the Vienna underground network and for the upgrading of the Brenner railway in Tyrol were awarded to BAUER Spezialtiefbau Ges.m.b.H.

Together with the companies and businesses that have been established in Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Tyrol and Poland, a network was created with which numerous specialist foundation engineering projects have been implemented with Bauer's expertise, not only in Austria but also in the adjoining South and East European markets.

The most recent project by BAUER Spezialtiefbau Ges.m.b.H. is currently being undertaken in the heart of the Austrian capital: as part of the new campus construction project at Vienna University of Economics and Business, seven-storey buildings with one basement level have been built on six building sites between Vienna Trade Fair and the world-famous Prater since August 2010. The Federal Real Estate Company (Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft m.b.H) commissioned the Austrian Bauer subsidiary to undertake the major foundation work, including the excavation of around 100,000 cubic metres of earth, 25,000 running metres of CFA piles and 115,000 cubic metres of vibrocompaction.
