Besides its holding function, BAUER AG’s first and foremost task is that of general and administrative service company for the operating companies. BAUER AG administers the accountancy, IT and legal departments, as well as the building management department. BAUER AG is also responsible for the personnel department which includes important areas such as training for a whole range of trades and professions.
BAUER Spezialtiefbau GmbH is the original parent company of the BAUER Group, and carries out projects all over the world. Bauer has been a key player in the development of specialist foundation engineering. Bauer Spezialtiefbau operates a network of branches in Germany, as well as working on all of the world´s continents through more than 50 subsidiaries and branch offices. In addition, the BAUER Group also operates other construction units - in the fields of underground construction, the construction of bridges and sewage treatment plants, renovation of historical buildings.
BAUER Maschinen GmbH develops and manufactures specialist foundation engineering equipment. As well as rotary drilling rigs and trench cutters, subsidiaries manufacture anchor drilling rigs, pile drivers, mixers, diesel-powered hammers, well and geothermal drilling rigs, and a wide range of accessories. Bauer Maschinen operates a global sales network, and in addition to its Schrobenhausen mother plant als has manufacturing facilities in Germany, China, Russia, the USA, Malaysia, Italy and Sweden.
BAUER Resources GmbH, the third segment of the BAUER Group, grew out of spin-offs of business units from both the specialist foundation engineering and equipment segments. The Resources segment works in the fields of water, environmental technology, energy and natural resources. Its three divisions - the Materials, the Mining and the Environment Division - incorporate established companies such as Bauer Umwelttechnik BMU, Filter- und Wassertechnik FWS and the companies of the GWE Group.
In 2008, the companies of the BAUER Group generated a turnover of 1.3 billions Euro with about 8900 employees world-wide.
