The largest coal-fired power station in the western world, the Robert W. Scherer Plant on Lake Juliette near Macon, Georgia, is being refitted with filter and treatment plants in line with new requirements such as the Clean Air Act. Coastal Caisson constructed 425 piles in diameters from 880 to 2,500 mm and down to depths of
30 metres, as well as 1,500 small bored piles in 250 mm diameter down to a depth of 25 metres.
