Shell is recovering oil from oil sands in Alberta. To protect a river, Bauer Foundations Canada is constructing an approximately 2.6-kilometre-long cut-
off wall down to a depth of 50 metres. The 900-millimetre-thick wall attains a permeability of 1x10^-9 m/sec.
