WORK-LIFE-BALANCE

Sustainable personnel policies within the BAUER Group also seek in particular to attain the best possible balance between work and family. The concept of "work-life balance" relates to the intelligent combining of work and private life. This is an aspect which is gaining increasingly in importance not least against a background of the continually changing world of work and of life in general.

LOCAL PUBLIC TRANSPORT

In 2010, BAUER AG supported the extension of the bus route from Schrobenhausen to Petershausen. Connecting to the rapid transit rail station in Petershausen, this important route provides a link from Schrobenhausen, centre of the region, to the Munich city transport network. More regular running times and a new stop at the Aresing plant make life easier for staff who commute to work from Munich and the surrounding areas. As a positive side-effect, using public transport instead of the car is helping to cut emissions too.

Flexible working times are key instruments in establishing a family-friendly work climate. For example, according to the schemes set up in the specific locality and the post held by the employee in question, our employees can choose between different part-time working and flexitime models.

Another essential prerequisite for a good work-life balance is comprehensive, affordable, high-quality child-care. Reflecting this concern, at our Group headquarters location in Schrobenhausen, where we are the region's largest employer, we have for a many years been supporting local day-care facilities.

MATERNITY/CHILD-CARE LEAVE

In 2010, 108 people employed at the extended core companies took time off to care for their children. Of those, 57 were women and 51 were men.

The health and well-being of our employees are also important in terms of attaining a good work-life balance. Consequently, the training and development programme offered by BAUER Training Center GmbH also includes seminars on time management and organizational skills, as well as yoga and back care exercises, available to all Bauer staff.

In addition, the company's Leisure, Sports and Cultural Committee – which maintains close links with the corporate Personnel department and the Works Council – regularly helps employees train for their state and federal “Sportabzeichen” fitness badge. The “Bauer Maulwürfe” (Bauer Moles) athletics team often represents the company in running events throughout the region.

The annual five-day cycle tour undertaken by Schachtbau employees from Nordhausen to Schrobenhausen, covering distances between 500 and 600 kilometres, has also become something of a tradition. Cyclists from other Bauer units also often join in along the route.

Whether at sports events, on day trips, employee socials or family outings – the corporate culture of the BAUER Group is also expressed in the communal leisure-time activities in which our employees and their families engage.
